How do I install MeterStack?
Download the installer from the download page, run the PKG, and follow the prompts to install the standalone app and plugins.
Which formats and operating systems are supported?
DAWN is a macOS app for Apple Silicon running macOS 13.5 or later. MeterStack supports macOS on Apple Silicon in Standalone, AU, and VST3 formats. Intel Macs, Windows, and Linux are not supported.
What is required to run DAWN?
DAWN requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 13.5 or later and Ableton Live 12 (Suite 12 recommended). Open the app once, then choose DAWN as a Control Surface in Live under Settings → Link, Tempo & MIDI.
Is DAWN free?
Yes. DAWN is a free macOS app. Connect a ChatGPT/Codex or MiniMax account, or use Ollama or LM Studio for local intelligence. Provider plans and limits apply. Local Studio audio generation is an optional separate download.
What are the DAWN local models?
Local Studio is an optional add-on of approximately 6.3 GB, with a 1.4B-parameter music model and a 433M-parameter sound-effects model. It runs on Apple Silicon through MLX/Metal, requires macOS 14 or later, and works offline after installation. DAWN caps music at five minutes and sound effects at two minutes per take. The Model licence acceptance required must be accepted before the model download; weights are not bundled.
Is MeterStack really free?
Yes. MeterStack is free to download and use. If you'd like to support development, you can always buy us a coffee.
Will there be updates?
Yes. We're actively improving MeterStack. Subscribe via email or check the MeterStack page for the latest version and release notes.

Does MeterStack collect any data?
The MeterStack plugin does not send us your audio or your personal data, and it has its own privacy and telemetry settings in its About panel. Separately, this website does record an email address when you subscribe or contact support, and logs downloads. See our Privacy Policy at /legal/privacy for the full picture.
